Importing Computers via Text File

Postby Virulon on Thu Mar 19, 2009 9:54 am

I have a strange behavior that I seem to be able to recreate (75%-85% of the time). I have a list of machines I need to see if they are online and if so, use DWNTU to remediate some issues.

I use the import option (right click the group and choose Import) to add the machines via a text file to one of the sub groups under "Favorite Machines" (i.e. zzzWorking - I add the zzz to force it to the bottom of the list). I browse to the text file, open it and select the text file and then click of to add them. It shows the count up of the machines being added but when it's finished, it shows no new computers in that group (which was empty when I started).

If I close DWNTU and open it fresh, it doesn't show the machines added (which did happen with previous versions). Refreshing the screen does nothing.

If I close DWNTU and start it again, it works as expected if it's the first thing I do.

Hi Virulon,

We have yet to be able to duplicate the import issue into the Favorite Machines list in DNTU. Are you observing this behavior intermittently or consistently? Are you using the latest 6.8.1.4 release? If not, please try duplicating this in the most recent release.

Thanks for the post.

This procedure allows you to export data from a worksheet range to a text file. You may specify the character (e.g, a space, tab, pipe, comma, etc) that separates the exported elements. Each row of cells in the worksheet is written to one line within the text file, and each item in that line is separated by the specified delimiter character. Any single character may be used as the delimiter.
