Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise

Postby cstluce on Tue Mar 09, 2010 12:00 pm

Hello all,

We've been using DameWare for many years across all of our servers and it's truly a wonderful product. Today, I attempted to connect to our first Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise server and while I've had a bit of trouble in getting connected (Waiting for client to accept...,etc.), I was able to connect as administrator but the MRC screen is all black.

I've been scouring posts and have seen some people report this with Windows 7 Beta and they recommended, stopping/starting the server service or pressing the ESC key repeatedly. So far, that has not helped me.

We're running DameWare version 6.8.0.4. I downloaded and tried 6.8.1.4 only to have the same results. Every other server that I connect to (Windows XP, Windows 2000 (SP4), Windows 2003 R2 and R2 with SP2) all function properly. This Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise has all patches applied. I've tried connecting DW with and without the Windows Firewall enabled but I still get the same result. I can't seem to connect as any user other than administrator.

Any ideas?

Thank you,
Christophe

I run several 08 R2 servers and had the same issue with a previous version of Dameware until I downloaded 6.8.1.4, that seemed to do the trick for me. Maybe try a fresh install of 8.8.1.4 on separate machine and ensure the client on the server is updated is about all I can suggest.

I could have sworn that I tried that.....I have version 6.8.1.4 installed on my other computer. Well, today it decided to work with 6.8.1.4

I'm still figuring out the access with anyone other than the Administrator account but I'll get that.

Thanks! :D

Just a note on the trouble I was also having with remoting in with an account other than the administrator (but the accounts have administrator access). I removed the options on the server service regarding needing permission, not allowing if at the login screen, etc. and I had to reboot the server. My other local "administrator" accounts can connect now.
